1.0# nitrogen per 1,000 SF is the typical recommended spread rate.  At this spread rate one 25# bag of ChemFree+ or one 50# bag of ChemFree+K will cover 2,500 square feet. Apply more or less depending on the specific needs of your lawn.
  • SF denotes square feet
  • It is not recommended to apply corn gluten meal at more than 2#'s per 1,000 SF per month.  It will not harm your lawn, but it may create a foul odor.
  • ChemFree+ can be applied every 4-6 weeks during the growing season to maintain a pre-emergent weed barrier across your lawn.
  • It is important to note that actual spreader rates will vary based on the accuracy (quality) of the spreader's control mechanism and your walking speed.  Calibrating your spreader's opening to your walking speed is an important first step in any lawn program.
  • Most spreader rates are based on using the typical granular product while walking 3 mph.  These rates may vary with use of a meal-based or powderized product.
  • The use of side shields (salt shields) set at 45° will help inhibit the "cloud floating" that may occur with ChemFree+.
