Feeding Your Turf - Organic versus Chemical Fertilizers

Chemical Fertilizers are synthetic sources of nutrients that are dissolved by water to become directly available to the turf's roots as plant nutrients. These nutrients are absorbed or dissipated over time and must be replenished periodically to sustain the turf.

Organic Fertilizers are natural sources of nutrients that primarily provide food sources to microorganisms and other living organisms in the soil, and secondarily provide very slow-release plant nutrients.  The organisms in the soil perform a multitude of tasks that result in creating the essential plant nutrients that feed the turf.  By stimulating and feeding the life in the soil, a self-sustaining ecosystem is created.
